Phone codes of every country in the world

Every country in the world has its own unique telephone code, also known as a country calling code.

These codes are essential when making international calls—just add the + sign followed by the code before the local number (for example, +91 for India or +81 for Japan).

If you're receiving a call from abroad, the country code helps identify where it's coming from.

Keep in mind, though, that international calls can get expensive, so don’t forget to check out our recommendations for the best international calling apps to save money and stay connected!

Unfortunately, scammers sometimes spoof international numbers to trick you into answering or calling back—especially if you see unusual or unknown country codes. For tips on how to recognize and protect yourself from scam calls, make sure to read our guide to avoiding phone scams.

📱 Fun fact: The first country code ever assigned was +1 for the United States and Canada—because the numbering plan was developed there! And did you know that Antarctica has its own dialing code too? It's +672, though it’s rarely used by the general public.
